Celebrating the Life of Eleanor Grace Bennett (1942–2026)

Eleanor Grace Bennett passed away peacefully on April 18, 2026, at the age of 84, surrounded by her family and loved ones. Born on September 3, 1942, in Cedar Falls, Eleanor lived a remarkable life marked by resilience, generosity, and a deep love for her community. She spent much of her career as a librarian, where her passion for books and learning touched the lives of countless children and adults alike. Eleanor was known for her gentle spirit, unwavering optimism, and the homemade pies she proudly brought to every family gathering. She found joy in simple pleasures—morning walks, tending to her roses, and spending time with those she loved most. Her greatest accomplishment was the family she built. She is survived by her three children, Michael Bennett, Susan Hart, and Rebecca Bennett; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many dear friends who will cherish the memories they shared with her. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Charles Bennett, and her sister, Margaret Ellis. A memorial service celebrating Eleanor’s life will be held on April 25, 2026, at Willow Creek Chapel. Family and friends are invited to attend and share stories of the kindness and warmth she brought into the world. The family requests that those wishing to honor Eleanor’s memory perform an act of kindness for a neighbor, friend, or stranger—a gesture she believed could change someone's day. Eleanor’s life was a testament to the power of compassion, and her memory will remain a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew her. "The love we leave behind is the light that continues to guide those who remain."
